What is sucess?

What is sucess?

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take

‘Success’ is a subjective term, having different meanings for different people. A roadside fruit seller may consider themselves successful while, at the same time, the richest man in the world might not. Quite ironic. So, do we have any ‘one size fits all’ kind of definition for success? Do we have a pathway to achieve success? Well, I feel elated to answer yes. Read more to find out.

Success, according to me, is the feeling one gets after achieving their goals. So, if a debt-ridden farmer’s goal is to pay all of his debts and start their own business, it is success–which could’ve been the case with our fruit seller. On the other hand, if the richest person’s goal is to set their feet on a planet like Mars, they might not consider them successful. After all, it’s always the perspective. The same things can carry different meanings when viewed from different perspectives.

Pitfall

So, it is clear that having a goal is important to even think of success. However, we generally commit one common mistake: we set ourselves too big of a goal. I’m not saying it is bad–we should, rather, we must have a mission for our lives. But, we must make sure to segregate our goals into smaller, more achievable chunks. Chunks that can be conquered daily1 - conquered, so that we have a consistent source of hope. So that we can always see light at the end of the tunnel–the tunnel that leads us to the goals of our lives. Internalize this.

Gratitude is the first step towards success

Now the obvious question is, where should one begin? Simple. Gratitude is the first step towards success. I’ll not digress much. Acknowledge what you’ve got, find the mission of your life, divide it into smaller chunks and dive deep into the work required to achieve your goal. Take control.

When one invests themselves into work, they will often come across things that are tempting. This often results in confusion. Confusion is dangerous. Confusion will consume your valuable time. You cannot afford to waste as valuable a resource as time. My solution? Simple, yet again. Visualisation is the key to solving most of your life’s problems. Imagine yourself in a car on a one-way road that leads you to a destination. The destination is the ultimate mission of your life. Now, if the thing that intimidates you helps you in reaching your destination, it is for you (e.g., daily hoops practice if your mission is to make it to the NBA). On the other hand, if entertaining something drains you and makes your journey harder, it isn’t for you (e.g., smoking).

Visualisation is the key, and should be the first step to solving most of your life’s problems.

Before closing, I’d like to shed light on one more point: ten people will have ten opinions on your goal. These don’t matter. This is noise. What matters most is your belief in your goal–if you doubt it, it ain’t your goal. You gotta take advice from the one person who has become what you dream of becoming, not from the nine others who are just messing around with their lives. Make the most meaning out of your life. It’s your life–you have to make it large. You have to take the driver’s seat. You have to take the ownership.

FromTheLibraryOfDevansh All in all, always think highly of yourself because you become what you think of yourself. Manifestation is real. And, surround yourself with positive people. It is all about not losing hope.

Ciao!
